Yoon Seems to Have Had About an Hour Meeting with Korea
Some Speculate President Yoon May Visit National Assembly
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, arrived at the National Assembly on the afternoon of the 6th after meeting with President Yoon Seok-yeol.
Han met with President Yoon for about an hour at the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, Seoul, before returning to the National Assembly. When reporters asked questions such as "Do you still maintain your position on suspension from duty?" and "Will you enter the party meeting immediately?" Han did not respond.
It is reported in political circles that President Yoon requested the meeting with Han on that day. Jeong Jin-seok, Chief of Staff to the President, and Joo Jin-woo, a member of the People Power Party, were also present at the meeting.
Earlier, President Yoon met with Han on the 4th to discuss measures to resolve the situation following the declaration and lifting of martial law but failed to reach a conclusion. Han demanded that President Yoon leave the party, but President Yoon responded by saying that the martial law was declared to prevent the impeachment outrage frequently abused by the Democratic Party of Korea and that he had done nothing wrong.
The meeting appeared to focus on discussing the political situation ahead of the impeachment vote. Earlier that day, Han expressed at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that the party should break from the party line rejecting President Yoon’s impeachment and instead swiftly suspend his duties.
