View original imageThe experiment involved various organizations including the National Fire Agency Research Institute, Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters, Gyeonggi University, and the fire stations of Yangju, Goyang, Uijeongbu, and Dongducheon. It was carried out to analyze harmful substances produced by electric vehicle fires and to prepare countermeasures for safety accidents.
Yang Cheol-gyu, a fire investigator at Yangju Fire Station, stated, “This study is based on an electric vehicle fire case that occurred in Eunhyeon-myeon, Yangju City last August. We plan to scientifically analyze the harmful substances to which firefighters may be directly exposed and utilize the findings to improve standard operating procedures (SOP) and protective gear.”
