Goyang-si Launches Campaign to Improve Environment of Children's Food Safety Protection Zones
Hygiene and Safety Promotion for 426 Children's Favorite Food Preparation and Sales Establishments
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 4th that it will carry out the ‘Hygiene and Safety Business Campaign’ to improve the environment of children’s food safety protection zones until the 6th.
This campaign targets 426 businesses that prepare and sell children’s favorite foods around schools, aiming to create a safe and sound children’s dietary environment and improve the hygiene of businesses within the children’s food safety protection zones.
The children’s food safety protection zone refers to the area within a straight-line distance of 200 meters from the school and its boundary. Goyang City has designated and manages a total of 133 zones, including one pilot zone (One Mount).
Children’s favorite foods refer to foods that children prefer or frequently eat among those regulated under the ‘Special Act on Children’s Dietary Safety Management,’ such as snacks, candy, bread, and chocolate.
Goyang City plans to raise awareness among business owners about the role of children’s food safety protection zones and encourage the practice of hygiene rules by distributing hygiene items with promotional materials attached.
The promotional content includes △ washing hands when cooking △ adhering to expiration dates and storage temperatures of food and ingredients △ undergoing regular health checkups △ hygienically storing and selling food △ not selling foods that harm emotional well-being.
