Regarding the ‘martial law declaration’ incident involving President Yoon Suk-yeol, on the 4th, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, stated, “The safety of Seongbuk residents is the top priority under any circumstances,” and urged, “I ask public officials to do their best in their duties without any hesitation to protect the safety and happiness of the residents.”
That morning, the mayor posted on his Facebook, “All tasks and public services in Seongbuk-gu will proceed routinely without disruption,” and added, “We will protect the daily lives of the residents.”
At 7:30 a.m. that day, Seongbuk-gu held an emergency meeting of executives chaired by the mayor to discuss matters related to residents’ safety. Festivals and other events scheduled for this week will also proceed as planned. The district plans to use this incident as an opportunity to discuss the preparation of a contingency plan for emergency situations.

Meanwhile, the martial law situation was resolved when the National Assembly passed a resolution demanding the lifting of martial law at around 1 a.m. that day, with 190 members present and 190 votes in favor, unanimously approving it. President Yoon announced the lifting of martial law through a live national address at 4:26 a.m., six hours after the declaration of martial law.
