Uijeongbu-si to Host 2025 New Year's Sunrise Walking Event
Walking 460,000 Steps Along the Stream Path to Saebitjeongwon Garden
Continuation Event
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 3rd that it will hold the ‘2025 New Year Sunrise Walking Event’ to walk healthily with citizens on the morning of the New Year’s Day of Eulsa Year, January 1st next year.
Organized for the second time this year by the Uijeongbu City Tongjang Association (President Lim Young-guk), this event was planned with the purpose of promoting ‘Growth of Uijeongbu’ by having the mayor walk in a relay with citizen representatives along Jungnangcheon and Buyongcheon, the central streams of Uijeongbu.
Unlike this year’s event, participants are divided into two groups: the Companion Team (walk followed by sunrise viewing) and the New Light Greeting Team (sunrise viewing only), allowing citizens who have difficulty walking to easily participate. Additionally, to ensure a safer event, the walking environment was improved in advance, and safety personnel were additionally secured in cooperation with the Uijeongbu Volunteer Center.
Especially, as the first event marking the beginning of the Eulsa Year 2025, the event aims to make citizens the main characters by collecting citizens’ New Year wishes and letters to their precious ones in advance. The collected wishes and letters will be shared together at Singok Saebit Garden, where participants gather to watch the sunrise.
