Next year’s major projects by sector will focus on revitalizing the local economy considering the difficult economic conditions, along with the prioritized promotion of the '2030 Project' to secure Haenam’s future growth engines.
This year, having secured the Opportunity Development Zone and Education Development Zone, the administration will further accelerate its pace to concretize bold blueprints for national projects that will bring revolutionary changes to the region, such as the establishment of the National Agricultural and Food Climate Change Response Center and agricultural cluster, the creation of the Hwawon Industrial Complex wind power hinterland, and the inclusion of the Haenam high-speed rail line in the national railway plan following the preliminary feasibility study for the highway.
Leveraging its status as the nation’s top agricultural and fishery county, Haenam will present a vision for the ‘Agricultural and Fishing Capital Haenam,’ establishing a leading and feasible development system for major crops such as rice, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and seaweed, and implementing foundational projects to create high added value.
Major projects by sector will also be carefully implemented, including the construction of tourism infrastructure to attract a living population in response to regional extinction and population decline, restructuring education and childcare systems to attract and stabilize the youth population, building a safe and warm administrative safety net for current and future residents of Haenam, and laying the groundwork for balanced and vibrant development between towns and townships.
The major tasks presented at this report meeting will be finalized by the end of December after reflecting on supplementary and improvement measures, and will be disclosed to residents after reporting to the council in February next year.
