Lufthansa to Suspend Tel Aviv Route Operations Until January Next Year
Iran Suspends Flights to Lebanon
German airline Lufthansa Group announced on the 2nd (local time) that it will suspend flights to and from Tel Aviv, Israel until January 31 next year.
Lufthansa initially said it would suspend Tel Aviv flights until the 15th of this month but has since extended the suspension. Flights to Tehran, Iran will also be suspended until January 31 next year, and flights to Beirut, Lebanon will be suspended until February 28 next year.
This measure is interpreted as a response to the precarious maintenance of a 60-day temporary ceasefire between Israel and the pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon, which began on the 27th of last month, amid sporadic attacks by the Israeli military. Although the level of armed conflict has decreased over the past five days due to the ceasefire, the Israeli military continues airstrikes targeting Hezbollah, accusing them of violating the ceasefire agreement.
