POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Head Lee Dong-ryeol) held a special safety lecture on the 2nd at the headquarters, inviting Kim Hwang-tae, the national triathlon representative for the 2024 Paris Paralympics, to remind employees of the risks of accidents and the importance of safety activities.
Kim Hwang-tae is the first Korean disabled triathlete to participate in the Paralympics and successfully complete the race.

View original imageAt the age of 23, Kim lost both arms in an accident and began his career as a professional athlete starting with marathon running. He then advanced to the triathlon event, participating in various international competitions, and in May of this year, he achieved the milestone of being the first Korean athlete to place in the World Series at a world competition.
In the lecture titled "Passion That Blooms Unshaken by Pain," Kim emphasized the potential risks of accidents during work and the necessity of safety activities based on his personal reflections.
He also movingly shared the various hardships he faced after the accident, how he overcame them through sports, and the behind-the-scenes story of ultimately competing in the Paralympics. By introducing the process through which he stood proudly before the world despite the accident, he inspired the attendees.
Kim said, “There is no such thing as impossible. As I have done so far, I will continue to run toward my dreams.”
