Expansion of Education to All Middle Schools This Year and Reorganization Including Operation of Special Classes
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that on December 4th at 1 PM, the integrated presentation of the Geumcheon Future Education District’s 1st-year middle school cooperative comprehensive arts activity, ‘Muse on Geumcheon,’ will be held at Geumnaerae Art Hall.
Approximately 440 students and teachers from Nangok Middle School, Dongil Middle School, and Hanul Middle School are expected to attend this presentation. A total of 8 teams will showcase the works they have diligently practiced throughout the semester in front of their peers. Each team, consisting of 15 to 20 first-year middle school students, will perform for about 10 minutes.
This project is a humanities and arts education program through musicals, targeting about 1,100 first-year students from 9 middle schools in Geumcheon-gu. Now in its 11th year, the project has been renamed ‘Muse on Geumcheon’ and has been further systematized by establishing three courses aimed at developing students’ cooperation and creativity.
The basic course links musical classes with regular curriculum subjects, including musical theory learning, practice, role assignments, and school-specific performances, conducted over 16 sessions.
The short-term course is designed for schools that find it difficult to incorporate the basic education content into their academic schedule, offering a one-day education (2nd to 4th periods) to allow students to experience musical education.
The advanced course selects students interested in musicals separately and runs a total of 25 sessions, including performance preparation and prop making. Additionally, the education expands to career and academic exploration activities in the arts field, such as university department visits and musical performance viewings, culminating in a performance of the practiced works at this integrated presentation.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Through this integrated presentation, I hope students can freely showcase the fruits of their artistic talents and efforts,” adding, “We will continue to expand educational programs that allow students to grow through diverse experiences and demonstrate their talents.”
