Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will operate the ‘Youth Field Experience Group,’ where young people can earn pocket money by experiencing public administration work during the winter vacation, explore district policies, and develop their work capabilities.
The district broke the mold of the ‘University Student Part-time Job’ program that had been operated every vacation. Instead of simple auxiliary tasks such as document organization and copying, university students and unemployed youth can directly experience public service, examine local issues, and propose future district policies or solutions.
Designed to shape Yeongdeungpo’s future with fresh perspectives and ideas from youth and to enhance their potential capabilities, the ‘Youth Administrative Experience Group’ has become a representative communication channel connecting the district and young people, with youth ideas reflected in policies. For example, the ‘Youth Administrative Experience Group’ operated during the summer vacation proposed measures such as installing elevator sensors and implementing temporary stops for right turns, contributing to improving safety and convenience in the local community.
This year, the district expanded the target participants from university students to unemployed youth aged 19 to 39 to hear more stories from young people.

Later, at the ‘District Policy Exploration Meeting’ held on February 5 next year, the youth will present in groups via PowerPoint (PPT) the policies of Yeongdeungpo they have researched, cases from other districts, improvement plans, and proposals, enhancing their planning, presentation, and communication skills.
Youth who wish to participate in the ‘Youth Administrative Experience Group’ can apply from December 2 to 10 through a link on the district’s website. The final 70 selected participants will be randomly chosen through a public computerized draw on December 13, and then assigned to each department considering their application field, residence, and other factors.
The working period is from January 6 to February 5 next year, assisting with district-related tasks in each department. In particular, to alleviate the economic burden on youth, the district applies the Yeongdeungpo-gu living wage instead of the minimum wage, paying about 1.5 million KRW for full attendance.
