Gwangju-si Dong-gu, 2024 Korea City Awards 'Minister's Award'
Contributions to Resident Participation in Urban Regeneration and Securing Green Spaces
On the 2nd, Dong-gu, Gwangju City announced that it received the Minister's Award in the support system category at the '2024 Korea Urban Awards' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Korea Urban Awards is an event held by the Ministry of Land since 2000 to commemorate the efforts of local governments that have contributed to realizing sustainable cities and improving the level of living infrastructure.
Since 2000, the Korea Urban Awards has annually evaluated 229 local governments on sustainable development and the level of living infrastructure.
Dong-gu was recognized not only for increasing resident participation through the creation and operation of the Village Sarangchae but also for strengthening organizational capabilities by operating urban regeneration support, startup support, and social economy support centers, as well as for land use management achievements such as securing vacant land as green space.
