Pukyong National University Wins Triple Crown at Public Service Design Performance Sharing Conference
Sweeping Gold, Silver, and Excellence Awards... Design Major - Design Naeil Industry-Academia Cooperation Achievements
The joint team of the Visual Design Department (Department Head Kim Seongpil) and the Industrial Design Department (Department Head Kim Myeon) at the National Pukyong National University, together with Design Naeil (CEO Kim Dongho), swept the Gold, Silver, and Excellence Awards at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘2024 Public Service Design Performance Sharing Competition,’ achieving a triple crown.

View original imageHeld on November 27 at the Government Sejong Complex, this competition is a policy development model where policy demanders?the public?and suppliers such as public officials, experts, and service designers collaboratively design demand-centered policies.
At National Pukyong National University, students Park Sieun, Lee Yeeun, Choi Juwon, Ha Yoon, and Hwang Seoyoung from the Visual Design Department, along with Lee Gaeun and Choi Sumyeong from the Industrial Design Department (advised by Professors Nam Yuntae and Lee Jeonghee, Industry-Academic Cooperation Professors), collaborated with Design Naeil CEO Kim Dongho and service designer Choi Soyoon to submit three projects, all of which won awards.
The Gold Award (Prime Minister’s Award) was given to the project titled “Starting with Joy, Not Worry! Universal National Natural Recreation Forest,” which was developed in cooperation with the Korea Forest Service’s National Natural Recreation Forest Management Office. This project designed a recreation forest service accessible without inconvenience to mobility-impaired users and received excellent evaluations.
The Silver Award (Prime Minister’s Award) went to the “Self-Support Innovation Project Allido My Pride! Olive (All-live),” conducted in partnership with Busan Metropolitan City. This self-support project instilled pride in participants through public welfare jobs and proposed a sustainable virtuous cycle system within the self-support business, earning recognition.
The Excellence Award (Minister of the Interior and Safety Award) was awarded to the project “No More Formal Workplace Disability Awareness Training! Let’s Be Barrier-Free (BFF),” developed in collaboration with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled under the Ministry of Employment and Labor. This project presented a new direction for disability awareness training in the workplace and attracted attention.
In particular, National Pukyong National University and Design Naeil were recognized as exemplary cases of industry-academic cooperation that demonstrated new possibilities in policy development and public service design based on students’ creative ideas and corporate execution capabilities.
