Gwangju City Confirms 2,728 Farms for Basic Public Interest Direct Payment, Disburses 2.58 Billion Won
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 2nd that it has finalized the recipients of the basic public interest direct payment for 2,728 farms and plans to make payments sequentially by eup, myeon, and dong starting this week.
The basic public interest direct payment system is a program that provides direct payments to farmers and others who meet certain qualifications and comply with requirements to promote the public functions of agriculture and rural areas, such as environmental conservation, rural maintenance, and food safety, as well as to stabilize the income of farmers.
After verifying eligibility and conducting compliance inspections for applications submitted in the first half of the year, a total payment amount of 2.58 billion KRW was confirmed. Due to the relaxation of payment conditions and the addition of new plots, the number of farms increased by about 200 and the amount by approximately 200 million KRW compared to the previous year.
