‘Coloring Busan’... Busan Urban Corporation Releases 15 Years of Urban Regeneration Achievements Video
Urban Sketch Artist Jeong Yeon-seok Collaboration, Creation and Documentation of Works by Urban Regeneration Project Sites
Busan Urban Corporation (Acting President Park Su-saeng) released a video on June 2nd through its official YouTube channel ‘BadagaTube’ to showcase the 15th anniversary achievements of the Busan-style urban regeneration project.
This video, produced to commemorate 15 years of urban regeneration in Busan, presents the achievements of the Busan-style urban regeneration project under the theme ‘BUSAN Coloring Busan, Coloring the City’ in about 3 minutes. It also selected representative sites symbolizing the past, present, and future of Busan’s urban regeneration to document its lifecycle.
In particular, the collaboration with Jeong Yeon-seok, an architect and urban sketch artist from Busan who works nationwide, added special meaning. Additionally, 12 urban sketch artworks were created by selecting representative sites of ▲Busan-style ▲Cultural and Artistic ▲Public-Private Cooperation ▲Sustainable urban regeneration types.
The ‘Busan-style’ category includes projects symbolizing Busan’s urban regeneration, such as the Happy Village Creation Project and the Sanbok-ro Renaissance Project. The ‘Cultural and Artistic’ category records the origins and foundations of Busan’s urban regeneration projects, including Gamcheon Culture Village and Kkangkkangi Art Village.
The ‘Public-Private Cooperation’ and ‘Sustainable’ categories, which suggest the future direction of urban regeneration, selected sites such as ▲Bongnae Waterfront Coffee Street ▲F1963 ▲Busan Modern History Museum ▲Busan City Hall Deullak Deullak (Children’s Complex Cultural Space).
The 12 locations overlap one by one with the sketch artworks and are ultimately combined into a single piece. By adding various colors to the black-and-white Busan urban regeneration areas, the video’s theme of ‘Coloring Busan’ is expressed.
The video can be viewed through online promotional media such as BMC BadagaTube. In addition, citizen interest and participation will be encouraged through online and offline citizen participation events, and promotion beyond the local area through various media will be pursued.
The collaborative works with artist Jeong Yeon-seok will be showcased not only online but also on-site at the Busan Modern History Museum’s Busan Records Festival. They will also be produced and utilized as various goods such as postcards and calendars.
