Incheon City Obtains 'Smart City Re-Certification'... Achievements Including Drone-Based Tidal Flat Safety Management
Incheon City announced on the 2nd that it has obtained re-certification in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2024 'Smart City Certification' evaluation.
The Smart City Certification was introduced in 2021 to systematically assess the level of smartization of domestic cities and to discover exemplary cases. Incheon City received its initial certification in 2022 and has now been re-certified.
The city cited the Smart City Integrated Platform, Incheon Data Hub, and drone-utilized mudflat safety management services as exemplary cases for re-certification.
The Smart City Integrated Platform developed by Incheon City is a service that transmits information to related agencies such as the Ministry of Justice, police, and fire departments in case of emergencies. Since October, approximately 820 CCTVs (at 203 locations) installed at smart intersections have been additionally utilized, enabling rapid police response to wanted vehicles.
The Incheon Data Hub attracted attention by creating an environment for developing creative innovative services based on scientific data analysis and public-private cooperation. Additionally, the drone-utilized mudflat safety management service contributed to the smart city re-certification by achieving an 86% reduction in mudflat accidents following drone patrols.

An official from Incheon City stated, "The smart city re-certification is meaningful in that it has laid the foundation for urban innovation using advanced technology," and added, "Through the '2029 Incheon City Smart City Plan,' we plan to set mid- to long-term policy directions for building an intelligent converged city and balanced development."
