Gangjin-gun Creates 'Safe Roads' Including Left-Turn Responsive Signals
Support for Lane Departure Warning Systems for Elderly Drivers
Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do is strengthening its efforts to prevent traffic accidents and create a safe road environment.
According to the county on the 29th, responsive left-turn signals were recently installed at Sinpung Intersection and Bamjae Intersection in Seongjeon-myeon, and the lane departure warning system (LDWS) support project for drivers aged 70 and over was successfully completed.
The responsive left-turn signal is an advanced system that detects vehicle flow in real time to reduce unnecessary signal waiting and improve traffic efficiency. It is especially evaluated as effective in preventing signal violation accidents that frequently occur at intersections. Sinpung Intersection and Bamjae Intersection, where this project was applied, were locations with a high frequency of accidents, so traffic safety is expected to be significantly enhanced.
Through this project, devices were installed in the vehicles of 20 elderly drivers, allowing drivers to recognize danger through warning sounds when they deviate from their lanes. One driver who had the device installed through the support project expressed high satisfaction, saying, "I feel more secure when driving."
