Daejeon City Council Education Committee Cuts Rental Fees for Bokyong Branch Modular Classrooms
Three City Projects: 456.08 Million Won, Education Office Cuts 600 Million Won and Increases Reserve Fund
The Daejeon City Council's Education Committee held a meeting on the 28th to review the 2025 budget proposals for Daejeon City and the Daejeon City Special Education Fund, deciding to cut a total of 1,056.08 million won.
For the 2025 Daejeon City budget under the jurisdiction of the Education Committee, which amounts to 477.95887 billion won, three items totaling 456.08 million won were reduced and allocated to internal reserves.
The reduced projects include: △ Parent College Admission Academy, 40 million won; △ Instructor fees for the Women's and Family Center main office and Eastern Citizen Education, 227.92 million won and 188.16 million won respectively. These reductions reflect improvements in the operation of the Parent College Admission Academy to enhance effectiveness, and the actual required amount for instructor fees following seismic reinforcement work and educational restructuring at the Women's and Family Center.
For the 2025 Daejeon City Special Education Fund budget, totaling 2.7971 trillion won, two items totaling 600 million won were reduced and reallocated to internal reserves.
The reduced projects include: △ Digital Infrastructure Tech Center operation, 100 million won; △ Rental cost for modular classrooms at Daejeon Wonsinheung Elementary School Bokyong Branch, 500 million won.
Lee Geumseon, Chairperson of the Education Committee (People Power Party, Yuseong-gu 4), stated, "This main budget is a crucial decision that directly affects the lives of 1.44 million Daejeon citizens, as it maintains policy stability and secures new momentum under unavoidable fiscal austerity," and added, "I hope you will do your utmost to ensure the successful implementation of key projects such as the RISE initiative, systematic operation of the Education Development Special Zone, and the creation of a sustainable, top-tier lifelong learning city by re-examining goals and strategies."
