'Record Snowstorm' Jeon Seong-su, Seocho District Mayor, Leads On-Site Command
Amid record-breaking snowfall in Seoul for the first time in 117 years, on the 28th, Jeon Seong-su, the mayor of Seocho-gu, visited 18 neighborhoods to inspect snow removal operations, aiming to prevent safety accidents and minimize inconvenience for residents.
Following the heavy snow warning issued on the 27th, Seocho-gu raised its snow removal measures from level 1 to level 2 and promptly conducted snow removal on major vulnerable roads and slopes where pedestrian safety was at risk. Snow removal agents were spread on main arterial roads such as Hyoryeong-ro and Sapyeong-daero, and automatic brine spraying devices and road heating cables were operated to thoroughly prepare against traffic congestion caused by snow during the morning commute.

Due to the risk of freezing caused by dropping temperatures, efforts are being made to remove residual and wet snow to prevent accidents and ensure smooth pedestrian movement.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su personally visited all 18 neighborhoods in the district to inspect snow removal sites. He prioritized safety inspections by checking alleys and steep slopes with high risk of falls, especially in densely populated residential areas such as Bangbae 3-dong. In particular, he personally cleaned broken tree branches caused by the heavy snow to create safe passageways and encouraged the staff who were exhausted from continuous snow removal work, urging them to carry out the operations swiftly.
Since there has been significant damage to local streams such as Yangjaecheon, Banpocheon, and Yeouicheon, efforts will be focused on restoring normal conditions by maintaining walking trails and removing snow accumulated on stairs and slopes.
