Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on the 28th that it reappointed Lee Joo-yeon, the 1st Corporate Ombudsman of Gangwon Province, as the 2nd Corporate Ombudsman at the provincial government’s Trade Consultation Office, and selected her as an honorary resident of Gangwon Province, awarding her the honorary resident certificate.

View original imageAlthough Lee Joo-yeon’s term as Corporate Ombudsman ends at the end of this month, she was reappointed as the 2nd Corporate Ombudsman in recognition of her achievements in resolving various corporate regulations during her term. Additionally, she was selected as an honorary resident of Gangwon Province in recognition of her exceptional passion and efforts to resolve regulations, contributing to local businesses and provincial administration.
Ombudsman Lee is originally from Chungju, Chungbuk, and serves as a professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Ajou University while concurrently holding the position of president of the Korea Industrial Convergence Promotion Association. As an expert in industrial convergence, she has dedicated herself to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, receiving the Brand Role Leadership Award this year for her talent donation activities in the field of corporate regulation, and has taken the lead in addressing corporate difficulties and regulatory issues.
In particular, as the inaugural Corporate Ombudsman of Gangwon Province, which was the first among 18 metropolitan local governments nationwide to implement the Corporate Ombudsman system, she toured 18 cities and counties 2 to 3 times a month over the past two years, identifying a total of 137 regulations and resolving 61 of them (30 in 2023 and 31 in 2024) through organic cooperation and communication with central government ministries, related provincial departments, and local governments.
Furthermore, she actively fulfilled her role in resolving corporate regulations within the province by utilizing her personal network to form expert advisory groups by regulatory field and developing rationale suited to the necessity of regulation resolution and the characteristics of the province.
Governor Kim Jin-tae of Gangwon Province said, “Over the past two years, as the inaugural Corporate Ombudsman, you have greatly contributed to achieving outstanding results in regulatory innovation,” and added, “Going forward, as an honorary resident of Gangwon Province, we expect even more help and roles not only in improving corporate regulations but also in the overall development of provincial administration.”

Corporate Ombudsman Lee Joo-yeon stated, “Now that I have become a resident of Gangwon Province, I will take the lead in resolving corporate regulations even more diligently,” and added, “In the future, I will focus on discovering regulations related to Gangwon Province’s five major advanced industries, achieve results, and contribute to the creation of Gangwon Province as a future industrial global city.”
