Pocheon Cultural Tourism Foundation Hosts Gyeonggi Provincial Theater Company's Performance of 'Uri Eupnae'
Performance at Pocheon Banwol Art Hall
on December 20 at 7 PM
Gyeonggi Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation (CEO Lee Jung-hyo) announced on the 28th that it will present the Gyeonggi Provincial Theater Company's performance of 'Our Town' at 7 p.m. on December 20 at the Pocheon Banwol Art Hall Grand Theater as part of the '2024 Gyeonggi Art Center Art Favorites' project.
The '2024 Gyeonggi Art Center Art Favorites' project is a program that stages excellent repertoires of Gyeonggi-do art groups at major performance venues in Gyeonggi-do. It is a representative cultural welfare project of the Gyeonggi Art Center designed to revitalize culture and arts through collaboration with local cultural centers and to resolve cultural imbalances between regions.
Pocheon Banwol Art Hall was selected twice for the project this year. In October, it hosted the Gyeonggi Pops Ensemble's 'Pops Concert,' and in December, it will hold the Gyeonggi Provincial Theater Company's performance of 'Our Town.'
'Our Town' is one of the greatest classic plays of the 20th century, based on the original work by Thornton Wilder. Since its premiere at the Henry Miller Theater on Broadway in New York in 1938, it has established itself as a representative work of modern American theater and has won the Pulitzer Prize.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Theater Company will present 'Our Town' directed by Artistic Director Kim Kwang-bo, with translation by Professor Oh Se-gon and adaptation by writer Oh Se-hyuk. While maintaining the original's emphasis on the beauty of everyday life, the stage will be newly composed to offer the audience an opportunity to explore the authenticity of life and the essence of human relationships from a fresh perspective.
The play explores life and death and the essence of human relationships through everyday stories set in the small town of Grovers Corners, depicting a journey to rediscover the true value of life.
The performance will be free of charge to resolve regional cultural imbalances and promote cultural and artistic revitalization. Reservations for tickets can be made through the Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation website until December 19.
A representative of the Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation said, “Our Town is a performance that helps discover precious values that we might overlook in ordinary daily life. We hope families spend a warm and meaningful time together through this performance.”
