Gwangju City, 2025 'Book of the Year' Citizen Voting
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 27th that it will conduct a citizen vote for one month until December 26 to select the "Book of the Year" for the 2025 Gwangju City One Book Reading Campaign.

View original imagePreviously, six candidate books were selected through the first and second reviews by the Book Selection Committee and the Library Management Committee, and the "Book of the Year" will be decided through this citizen vote.
The candidates in the general category are △How We Passed Through Winter (Moon Mi-soon) △I Took a Bite of Summer (Lee Kkot-nim) △Era Forecast: The Age of the Nuclear Individual (Song Gil-young).
In the children’s category, the candidates are △A Funeral Where Everyone Smiles (Hong Min-jung) △The Best Chicken Show in the World (Lee Hee-jung) △Meow Swimming Class (Shin Hyun-kyung), making a total of six books.
The books selected through the vote?one from the general category and one from the children’s category?will be widely available in all libraries throughout Gwangju City during 2025, and various cultural events such as meetings with authors and book report contests related to the books will be promoted.
Voting for the Book of the Year can be done online through the website of the Municipal Central Library or by visiting any of the 15 public libraries (9 public libraries and 6 small public libraries) to vote in person.
