Gominsi Donates 50 Million Won to Vulnerable Groups in Winter
Donation through international development cooperation NGO G Foundation
"May interest and solidarity change someone's daily life"
Actress Go Min-si generously donated 50 million KRW to support elderly people living alone and vulnerable groups during the winter season.
The international development cooperation NGO G Foundation announced that the donation will be used to support the stable living of elderly people living alone through livelihood, medical, and housing assistance. The funds will provide a warm winter by covering monthly rent, utility bills, and heating costs for elderly individuals managing their livelihoods alone, and will also be used to assist vulnerable groups in need.
Through G Foundation, Go Min-si practiced sharing in 2020 by supporting single-parent families, and in 2023, she donated 30 million KRW to domestic children, adolescents, and single-parent families in celebration of Family Month. Go Min-si said, "I hope this donation will be well used to help elderly people living alone and other vulnerable groups during the winter season. As the weather gets colder, I wish my contribution can help the elderly spend a warmer winter," adding, "I decided to share with this belief that the interest and solidarity of our society can bring significant changes to someone's daily life."
G Foundation is an international development cooperation NGO that has obtained Special Consultative Status (SCS) with the UN Economic and Social Council. It carries out projects including education support and healthcare services for developing countries overseas, as well as domestic projects supporting children and adolescents, low-income women, and social economy initiatives.
Park Chung-kwan, CEO of G Foundation, stated, "South Korea records the highest elderly poverty rate among OECD countries, with more than half of those aged 80 and above living in poverty. Especially during winter, it is the harshest season for the elderly who face difficulties in livelihood, health, and housing," adding, "The issue of elderly poverty is a structural challenge our society faces, so actress Go Min-si’s donation is a meaningful act that goes beyond simple financial support to urge social attention. We will do our best to convey Go Min-si’s warm heart properly."
