In response, Paju City has established two new village bus routes in Wollong-myeon for residents in transportation-disadvantaged areas.
The newly established routes are village bus numbers 024 and 026. Route 024 operates 12 times a day between Deogeun-ri, Wijeon-ri, Yeongtaeri, and Geumchon Station, while route 026 runs 26 times a day from Wollong Station to LG Display and Tanhyeon National Industrial Complex.
To ensure stable route operation, Paju City obtained approval for the national subsidy project, the ‘2024 Urban Transportation Model Project,’ through consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Gyeonggi Province. Subsequently, a public bidding was held in April 2024 to select a transportation operator, and after a preparation period including vehicle delivery, bus operations will begin on the 19th.
Ahead of the bus operation, Paju City held the ‘Wollong-myeon Village Bus New Route Opening Ceremony’ on the 18th at the Yeongtae 2-ri Village Hall. The event was attended by local residents, Paju Mayor Kim Kyung-il, and members of the Paju City Council to celebrate the establishment of the new bus routes.
