They shared the development status of both cities and engaged in in-depth discussions on cultural exchange and mutual promotion plans.
In the afternoon, an event was held at Okjeong Lake Library to strengthen cultural exchange between Yangju and Dongying. Dongying donated 200 books related to Chinese culture to Yangju, and in gratitude, Yangju donated books including works by author Han Kang, a Nobel Literature Prize laureate. This is expected to further enhance cultural communication between the two cities.
Deputy Director Son Jeon-hwal quoted a Chinese proverb, “If you understand each other, no matter how far the distance, you can become as close as neighbors,” and expressed hope that “the friendship between the two cities will deepen and that progressive cooperation will be achieved in various fields.”
Mayor Kang Su-hyun said, “We sincerely welcome the visit of the Dongying delegation and will continuously strive to expand exchanges between the two cities to a broader scope,” adding, “We will create opportunities for cooperation in various fields such as administration, education, culture, economy, and tourism, and strengthen friendly relations for mutual development.”
Since signing a friendly exchange agreement in 2010, the two cities have maintained active exchanges in various fields, and last October, they further strengthened cooperation by signing a sister city agreement.
