View original imageDaejeon City held the Chungcheong Region Local Era Committee Symposium on the 18th at the Intercity Hotel, under the theme "Development Plans for Metropolitan Areas to Strengthen the Competitiveness of the Chungcheong Region."
This symposium was organized by the Local Era Committees of the four cities and provinces in the Chungcheong region to gather public opinion for the mutual development of the region and to wish for the successful launch of the Chungcheong Metropolitan Alliance, which is scheduled for December.
Professor Hong Junhyeon from Chung-Ang University analyzed Korea's population and economic data and proposed a metropolitan area model suitable for the Chungcheong region, under the topic "Desirable Directions for the Reorganization of the Chungcheong Region's Super-Metropolitan Administrative System."
Dr. Byun Seongsu from the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute presented "Legislative Measures for the Strategic Development of the Daejeon Metropolitan Area," considering directions and strategies for mutual growth based on population, regional balanced development, and commuting patterns.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo said, "I am pleased that such a meaningful event is being held in Daejeon ahead of the launch of the Chungcheong Metropolitan Alliance," and added, "I hope various measures will be discussed so that our Chungcheong region can compete not only domestically but also globally through economies of scale."
Meanwhile, the Local Era Committees of the four cities and provinces in the Chungcheong region were established to gather ideas for mutual development on various issues, and held their first symposium in Sejong City in July this year.
