Incheon City to Crack Down on Illegal Activities at Local Currency Merchants Until the 20th of Next Month
Incheon City will crack down on the illegal distribution of the local currency Incheon Sarang Gift Certificate (Incheon e-eum Card) until the 20th of next month.
This crackdown will be conducted targeting merchants registered in Incheon in line with the nationwide simultaneous crackdown period to establish a sound distribution order for the Incheon Sarang Gift Certificate. As of the end of last month, there are 130,648 Incheon Sarang Gift Certificate merchants.
The city will focus on illegal receipt/exchange, restricted business types, payment refusal, and discriminatory treatment compared to cash. To this end, joint inspection teams will be formed with each district/county and Kona I, the operator of the Incheon Sarang Gift Certificate, to comprehensively analyze merchants detected by the abnormal transaction detection system and cases reported to the illegal distribution reporting center, and proceed with the crackdown.
Merchants confirmed to be involved in illegal distribution will face administrative and financial measures such as guidance, cancellation of merchant registration, and fines based on the "Act on the Promotion of Use of Local Love Gift Certificates," depending on the violation. Serious violations may lead to investigation requests.
The city operates an illegal distribution reporting center (1811-8668) at all times so that citizens can directly report illegal distribution when discovered.
