Minister Oh Young-joo: "Supporting Tech and Management Innovation SMEs to Become Leaders in the Digital Economy"
'2024 SME Technology and Management Innovation Expo Held'
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 14th that it held the opening ceremony of the '2024 SME Technology and Management Innovation Exhibition' at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center, showcasing and promoting excellent innovative products developed by SMEs and awarding meritorious individuals.
The SME Technology and Management Innovation Exhibition has been held since 2000 to award innovators who have contributed to national economic development through technological and managerial innovation and to widely inform the public of the achievements of SME technology and management innovation throughout the year.
This year's theme is 'Innovative Companies, Adding AI.' At the opening ceremony, a total of 230 awards were presented, including 2 Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, 1 Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, 1 Order of Service Merit, 3 Industrial Service Merit awards, 20 Presidential Citations, 30 Prime Minister Citations, and 173 Ministerial Citations, to those who achieved outstanding results through technological and managerial innovation and contributed to national economic development.
The Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to CEO Kim Tae-wan of Uwon Technology and CEO Jung Ji-won of SJ Autotech. The Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to CEO Wang Je-won of Innovabio Surge, the Order of Service Merit to Professor Choi Eun-ha of Kwangwoon University, and the Industrial Service Merit to CEO Jeong Hyeong-kwon of Geumseong Wind Power and CEO Kim Hoe-taek of Prime Disaster Prevention.

Minister Oh Young-joo stated, “To proactively respond to the rapidly changing global technological hegemony competition, continuous innovation and challenges by technology and management innovative companies are necessary,” adding, “We will support the expansion of private-led research and development, respond to climate and environmental changes, and foster a global innovation ecosystem so that technology and management innovative SMEs can grow as leaders in the digital economy era.”
