Geumcheon-gu Joint Inspection of Polluting Businesses with Private Environmental Monitoring Team
Inspection of 40 Local Environmental Pollutant Emission Sites for One Month Starting from the 13th
Joint Public-Private Inspection with Private Organization Officials and Local Residents
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that from November 13 to December 12, a month-long joint public-private inspection will be conducted on 40 business sites emitting environmental pollutants.
The district plans to enhance administrative transparency and credibility through joint inspections with the private environmental monitoring team and share the importance of environmental conservation.
The private environmental monitoring team consists of members from environmental-related private organizations and local residents. One team is composed of two private environmental monitors and one public official, and two such teams will inspect the pollutant-emitting business sites.
The main inspection items include the licensing and operation status of emission facilities, whether emission and prevention facilities are operating normally, unauthorized discharge of wastewater and proper management, preservation of operation records of emission facilities, and any falsification of records.
The district will check the sites of businesses emitting environmental pollutants such as air pollutants and wastewater, focusing on providing technical and administrative support for any deficiencies. Minor violations that can be corrected immediately will be administratively guided on site, while major violations will be subject to administrative measures such as fines according to relevant laws.
A district official stated, “We will strengthen the operation of the private environmental monitoring team to patrol areas around rivers intensively and regularly conduct joint inspections of pollutant emission facilities to intensify crackdowns on illegal activities.”
