Korail Announces Naming Contest for Daegok~Uijeongbu 'Suburban Line Exclusive Rail Pass'
Korea Railroad Corporation (hereinafter Korail) announced on the 11th that it will hold a naming contest for the 'Suburban Line Exclusive Rail Pass' for the Daegok~Uijeongbu route.
Participants can enter the contest by downloading the application form from the Korail website, then submitting a name and its meaning that reflect the characteristics of the rail pass by the 20th of this month.
Korail, in collaboration with Gyeonggi Province, and the cities of Goyang, Yangju, and Uijeongbu, will review the submissions and select the winning entry. The winner will receive a 'Suburban Line 1-Year Free Pass' allowing unlimited use of the Suburban Line for one year.
The Suburban Line will begin operations this December on the 30 km section between Daegok Station in Goyang City and Uijeongbu Station. Originally opened in 1963, the Suburban Line ceased operations in 2004. The resumption marks a return after 20 years.
Korail plans to launch the 'Suburban Line Exclusive Rail Pass' in February next year to coincide with the resumption of the Suburban Line. The rail pass will allow unlimited rides on the entire route for 4,000 KRW per day, with access to non-reserved or standing seats.
