A man in his 30s who received an ID under the pretext of leveling up an online game character's experience points and embezzled game items worth about 24 million KRW to convert them into cash was given a suspended sentence.
According to Yonhap News on the 10th, the Busan District Court Seobu Branch (Chief Judge Lee Hwa-song) sentenced the 30-year-old defendant A, who was charged with breach of trust, to six months in prison with a two-year suspension. He was also ordered to perform 120 hours of community service.
Previously, in July of last year, A contacted B after seeing a post that said, "Looking for someone to log into my game account and level up experience points on my behalf." After receiving B's game ID and password, A disposed of 15 items in B's game account and converted them into cash. These items were worth a total of 23.43 million KRW.
