"Shall We Learn Royal Court Cuisine?" Hwaseong City Hosts 'Jeongjo Hyo Royal Court Cuisine Education'

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province will hold the 'Jeongjo Filial Piety Royal Court Cuisine Education in Hwaseong' three times from the 19th to the 21st.
This education program was prepared to promote regional culture and spread traditional food culture by inviting experts in royal court cuisine, designated as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, taking advantage of Hwaseong City's regional characteristics, where the tombs of Crown Prince Sado and King Jeongjo, Yunggeolleung, are located.
The education consists of learning the theory and practicing royal court dishes such as Jeokdusuhwachwi, Geumjungtang, and Gilgyeong Japchae recorded in the "Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe (園幸乙卯整理儀軌)," a symbol of King Jeongjo's filial piety. The Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe is a Joseon royal protocol that comprehensively records the 8-day celebration of Lady Hyegyeong's 60th birthday held at Hwaseong Haenggung from February 9 to 16 in the 19th year of King Jeongjo's reign (1795). The practice sessions will use 'Suhyangmi,' a specialty product of the Hwaseong region.
The number of participants is limited to 30 per session, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from the 7th through the 'Hwaseong City Integrated Reservation System.'

Kim Yangsuk, director of the Hwaseong Agricultural Technology Center, said, "This education will be a meaningful time to promote regional culture by making royal court cuisine with healthy Korean agricultural products and to highlight the excellence of our agricultural products."
