Gwangju Transportation Corporation is spreading warmth throughout the local community by carrying out a ‘Home Repair’ volunteer activity to help neighbors in need have a warm winter.
On the 6th, a day before Ip-dong, President Jo Ik-moon of Gwangju Transportation Corporation and about 10 employees from the Vehicle Operations Department rolled up their sleeves after hearing the story of Mr. A, a person with an intellectual disability living in Nongsung 2-dong, Seo-gu, who has been experiencing difficulties due to long-term financial hardship.
Council member Kang Su-hoon of Gwangju City Council also accompanied the volunteer activity that day. The volunteer team replaced old wallpaper and flooring, repaired worn-out electrical facilities, and cleaned up waste inside and outside the house to help ensure a clean and safe winter.
Earlier last month, about 10 employees from the Technical Operations Department visited a senior center in Dong-gu, Gwangju, replacing lights and switches with electrical leakage risks, and improving the living environment by installing storage cabinets and handles.
In addition to the home repair volunteer work, the corporation is leading various sharing activities for the local community, such as revitalizing urban-rural exchange through helping with farm work, donating scholarships to sister schools under the ‘One Team, One School’ program, and delivering social contribution funds.
