View original imageThe Sudong Tunnel, located in Namyangju City, is a newly constructed tunnel completed in February 2024, with four lanes (two lanes each way) and a length of 2.4 km. Led by the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters, related agencies including the Namyangju Fire Station and Namyangju Northern Police Station participated to conduct inspections simulating real situations, such as the operation of disaster prevention facilities, rescue and evacuation of people, fire suppression, and accident handling procedures.
Through the drill, the province confirmed whether disaster prevention facilities (emergency broadcasting, smoke control equipment, etc.) operate normally in the event of a fire caused by an accident inside the tunnel, and focused on reviewing the appropriateness of evacuation and accident handling procedures. It was an opportunity to check smooth cooperation among related agencies and the initial response posture.
The province plans to continuously supplement the improvements derived from this drill to enable faster and more efficient responses in the event of an actual disaster.
