Professor Kim Chang-kyung of National Pukyong University Receives Merit Plaque from Northeast Asian Cultural Society
On the 5th, Pukyong National University announced that Professor Kim Chang-kyung (Department of Chinese Studies) received a plaque of appreciation from the Northeast Asian Cultural Association (President Shin Jong-dae).
Professor Kim was recognized for his contributions and awarded the plaque of appreciation at the "2024 Northeast Asian Cultural Association Autumn Joint International Academic Conference," held on October 26 at Pukyong National University, co-hosted by the Northeast Asian Cultural Association, the East Asian Japanese Studies Association, and the Pukyong National University Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group.
As the former president of the Northeast Asian Cultural Association, Professor Kim contributed to the growth of the association into an international academic organization during his tenure. He has devoted himself to scholarly research in the Northeast Asian region for many years, striving to establish and disseminate academic alternatives within the academic community. Through this, he has led the formation of intellectual networks transcending the borders of Korea, China, and Japan, proposed future visions for East Asia, and played a leading role in promoting a cultural community in East Asia.
Currently, Professor Kim serves as the head of the Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group at Pukyong National University, jointly leading various academic activities with the Northeast Asian Cultural Association, significantly influencing the development of East Asian cultural studies.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Kim said, “I deeply thank my fellow researchers and association members who have sailed together on the strong ship called the Northeast Asian Cultural Association. I believe this award was given to me as a call to work even harder for the development of the association. I will continue to cooperate closely with the association and do my best to help it develop into a world-class academic organization and establish itself as a central hub for East Asian cultural research.”
