'2024 Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Expo' Opens in Busan on the 6th... Hosted by City, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Science and ICT

Busan City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Lee Ju-ho) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Yoo Sang-im), will jointly host the '2024 Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Expo' for three days from the 6th to November 8th at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2.
The city, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and ICT are co-hosting the event, with the National Research Foundation organizing it to break down barriers among local communities, companies, universities, and research institutes, opening new possibilities.
Marking its 17th year, this event, under the theme "Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation, a Solution for Regional Innovation Designing the Future," will share and disseminate outstanding achievements and innovative cases from 323 universities and institutions nationwide, and serve as a platform to discuss future innovation strategies based on industry-academia-research cooperation.
The event will exhibit major achievements in industry-academia-research cooperation categorized by themes.
▲ At the Policy Promotion Hall, visitors can comprehensively review the support policies for industry-academia-research cooperation from the city, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and ICT. ▲ The Regional Innovation Hall will introduce key industry-academia cooperation projects such as the 3rd Phase Industry-Academia-Research Leading University Development Project (LINC 3.0), Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project (RIS), and Higher Vocational Education Hub District (HiVE), as well as policies related to RISE, which will be fully implemented starting next year (2025).
Additionally, ▲ Startup Hall ▲ Technology Commercialization Hall ▲ Talent Development Hall ▲ Infrastructure Hall ▲ Global Achievement Exhibition Hall and other themed areas will showcase industry-academia cooperation achievements conducted by universities and provide opportunities for direct experience.
Along with various side events such as the 'Local Industry-Academia Showcase,' 'Local Industry-Academia Cooperation Exchange Network Day,' 'University Startup Demo Day,' 'Private Investment Attraction Cooperation Signing Ceremony,' and various competitions involving students, career experience programs will also be held for elementary, middle, and high school students to directly see and experience the outcomes of industry-academia-research cooperation.
The event will create a platform for research and development (R&D) partnerships by introducing excellent technologies owned by universities and offering one-on-one matching consultations for industry-academia cooperation and technology transfer. It will also provide opportunities to promote products and services such as home shopping for family company products under the 3rd Phase Industry-Academia-Research Leading University Development Project (LINC 3.0).
Through various programs including local government-university-company communication forums, the event will also serve as a platform to strengthen connections with the RISE system and enhance local industry-academia-research cooperation.
The career experience programs will include a Future Talent Exploration Course where students can directly engage with cutting-edge technologies in new industries and experience promising future occupations, as well as a Startup Story Course where entrepreneurial talents can demonstrate creative products and share startup know-how.
The on-site opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on the 6th will be attended by Lee Jun-seung, Busan City Deputy Mayor, along with representatives from universities, government-funded research institutes, and companies involved in industry-academia-research cooperation. A commendation ceremony will also be held to honor those who have contributed to industry-academia cooperation in the field.
