Gangseo-gu, Events Commemorating 'Children's Rights Week' from the 16th to 22nd of This Month
Child Abuse Prevention Education for Daycare Staff Also Provided
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) has designated the period from the 16th to the 22nd of this month as Children's Rights Week and will hold commemorative events to easily and familiarly inform the public about children's rights.
This Children's Rights Week has been held annually since 2018 to commemorate the "World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse (November 19)" and the "UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Ratification Day (November 20)."
This year's slogan is set as "Children's Rights ALL 4 (FOR) YOU," and various programs have been prepared to inform residents about the four fundamental rights of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to survival, development, protection, and participation.
The commemorative event will be held on the 16th of this month from 10:40 AM to 12:00 PM at the Gangseo-gu Citizens' Hall, Ujang Hall. The event will begin with a child abuse prevention campaign together with the police, child protection agencies, and Gangseo-gu child committee members, followed by viewing a children's rights education video and a pre-event performance by the Gangseo-gu Boys and Girls Choir. In particular, the event will feature a 60-minute "Happy Jun's Extreme Balloon Show," in which the audience can participate, providing attendees with a special memory.
On the 18th at 4 PM, the district will also conduct "Child Abuse Prevention Education" for 30 daycare center directors and childcare staff on the first floor of the Lifelong Learning Center. This education will focus on actual child abuse cases and is expected to greatly contribute to improving awareness of child abuse in childcare settings.
Additionally, during Children's Rights Week, online children's rights education will be provided for mandatory reporters of child abuse, district office employees, police officers, and firefighters.
