Paju-si, Intensive Inspection of Illegal Activities at Livestock Manure Discharge Facilities
Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 4th that it is conducting intensive inspections of 581 livestock breeding facilities in the second half of the year to prevent violations of the Livestock Manure Act, following the first half.
As of the end of October, there have been 5 prosecutions and 9 administrative actions, and 37 samples have been collected to check compliance with odor emission standards.
In particular, Paju City explained that it focused on preventing environmental pollution by providing livestock manure compost management guidelines to farms where complaints frequently occur.
Paju City also conducted joint inspections with Gyeonggi Province to check compliance with management standards for livestock manure discharge and treatment facilities, compliance with discharge water and composting standards, and odor occurrence.
For violations detected during inspections, minor cases were immediately corrected on-site, while serious violations such as unauthorized discharge and abnormal operation were subject to legal action and administrative measures. Additionally, facilities that do not actually raise livestock were advised to report closure.
