Monitoring Key Projects for Women-Friendly City Creation and Identifying Improvement Tasks
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is recruiting the ‘Gwanak-gu Women-Friendly City Resident Participation Group’ until November 14 to create a ‘Women-Friendly City where everyone is happy together with women.’
A women-friendly city is a city where women and men participate equally in local policies and development processes, and policies are operated to realize women’s empowerment, care, and safety.
Since being designated as a women-friendly city in 2019, the district has established an implementation plan for the women-friendly city and operated the resident participation group divided into four subcommittees: ▲urban space and environment ▲work and care ▲safety and health ▲promotion, culture, and communication.
The ‘Women-Friendly City Resident Participation Group’ actively works on monitoring major projects for creating a women-friendly city and discovering improvement tasks.
The resident participation group plays a role in presenting constructive opinions on the creation of a women-friendly city, discovering gender imbalance factors and inconveniences in daily life, spreading a women-friendly culture, and forming a consensus for balanced regional development.
The recruitment target is 80 people who either reside in Gwanak-gu or work at organizations, institutions, or companies located in Gwanak-gu. Any resident interested in the creation and development of a women-friendly city can participate regardless of gender, and the term of office is two years.
