BPA to Redesign Redevelopment Plan for Busan Port Yongho Pier
Commencement of Service, Revision Plan to be Established by September Next Year
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) held a kickoff meeting on the 31st to establish a revised project plan for the redevelopment framework of Yongho Pier at Busan Port.

View original imageYongho Pier, equipped with a general pier capable of handling 20,000-ton vessels, ceased operations following the collision accident involving a Russian cargo ship and Gwangandaegyo Bridge in 2019, and is currently being temporarily used as a waterfront facility. Yongho Pier is adjacent to residential areas and is near Gwangalli Beach, Igidae Park, and a cruise terminal.
According to a survey conducted with 200 local residents and experts as part of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' announced 3rd Basic Plan for Port Redevelopment, the preferred direction was marine tourism (40.6%), and the most favored introduced function was tourism facilities (67.6%).
This project will be carried out over one year with the goal of reviewing the existing redevelopment project plan for the Yongho Pier area and preparing a project plan aimed at providing leisure spaces for local residents and revitalizing marine tourism.

Jeon Seong-hoon, head of the Port Regeneration Project Group at BPA, stated, “Through this project, we will review the appropriateness of the existing plan for the Yongho Pier redevelopment project and actively gather citizens' opinions to promote the revitalization of the surrounding area.”
