Gwangju Nam-gu to Create 'Barefoot Path and Youth Shelter' on Pureun-gil
600 Million Invested... Two Healing Paths and Leisure Spaces Created
Nam-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 29th that it plans to create a barefoot path and a leisure and cultural activity space for youth in the Pureungil Park, a resting place for residents, as a new project for next year.
The district will invest about 600 million won in special grants to create a "theme urban park" in Pureungil, establishing a barefoot path with a healing concept and a youth resting shelter between Juwol-dong and Jinwol-dong. The location will be finalized after gathering residents' opinions.
The barefoot walking trails will be newly created in two locations within Pureungil Park. They will be set up along tree-lined paths so residents can enjoy barefoot walking even under the scorching summer sun. For the youth shelter space, the district is considering utilizing a small plaza near Dongseong High School at the end of the Pureungil Park walking trail in Jinwol-dong.
The district is currently conducting detailed design work along with related administrative procedures, and the project is expected to be completed around June next year.
