Apple announced on the 28th (local time) that it will release a desktop iMac equipped with the new M4 chip and its artificial intelligence (AI) system, Apple Intelligence.
The newly released iMac is the first new model in a year since the iMac with the M3 chip was launched on October 31 last year. The M4 chip was previously installed in the iPad Pro model released this year.
According to Apple, the new iMac with the M4 can handle everyday productivity tasks up to 1.7 times faster and high-performance tasks such as photo editing and gaming up to 2.1 times faster compared to the iMac equipped with the M1 chip.
The M4 chip includes a neural engine that is more than three times faster than that of the M1-equipped iMac. It also supports Apple’s AI system, Apple Intelligence, which utilizes this engine. Apple Intelligence is available in American English through macOS Sequoia 15.1.
Users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text system-wide using the "writing tool," and can speed up tasks by giving requests to Apple’s AI agent, Siri, via voice or text.
The Apple Intelligence feature will be available in December, with more functions to be released thereafter.
The display maintains the 24-inch 4.5K Retina, and for the first time on an iMac, offers "Nano Texture Glass" that reduces glare and reflections.
The central camera used for FaceTime calls supports 12 megapixels.
The colors are released in seven new options: Green, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Purple, Blue, and Silver.
The price starts at 1,990,000 KRW, with educational pricing starting at 1,915,000 KRW. Additional costs apply depending on options such as memory and storage.
