Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that it is operating and supporting four dental care centers for people with disabilities to ensure that individuals with severe disabilities, who face difficulties in communication and medical cooperation, can receive safe and professional dental medical services.
Since 2012, the province has operated the Gyeonggi Regional Dental Care Center for People with Disabilities at Dankook University Jukjeon Dental Hospital located in Yongin City, and in 2022, it established the Gyeonggi Northern Regional Dental Care Center for People with Disabilities at Myongji Hospital in Goyang City, making it the only region in the country to operate two regional dental care centers for people with disabilities.
In addition to the regional centers, the province supports dental clinics for people with severe disabilities at the Gyeonggi Medical Center Suwon Hospital and Uijeongbu Hospital with its own budget, providing general anesthesia and general dental care services to people with disabilities who find it difficult to use regular dental medical institutions.
This year, from January to the end of September, the dental treatment performance for people with disabilities reached a total of 15,369 patients, including 1,999 under general anesthesia and 13,370 receiving general treatment. This represents a 15% increase compared to the same period last year (13,362 patients).
