Im Hyuntaek, President of the Korean Medical Association, Impeachment Motion Proposed... "Defamation of Doctors' Honor with Offensive Remarks"
Delegates of the Korean Medical Association (KMA) have proposed a motion of no confidence against KMA President Im Hyun-taek.
On the 24th, Cho Hyun-geun, a KMA delegate from Busan Metropolitan City, announced that he and 103 other delegates have requested the Operations Committee to convene an extraordinary general meeting. The agenda for the extraordinary meeting includes the motion of no confidence against President Im and the formation of an emergency countermeasure committee.
The current number of KMA delegates is 246, and the 103 delegates requesting the extraordinary meeting exceed the required number to propose a no-confidence motion.
According to KMA regulations, a no-confidence motion against the president can be established if proposed by at least one-quarter of voting members or one-third of the total delegates, and it requires attendance of at least two-thirds of the total delegates, with a majority vote of the attending delegates for approval.
Earlier, on the 21st, Delegate Cho criticized President Im in a statement released during the collection of no-confidence consent forms, saying, "Since his election, President Im has repeatedly made offensive remarks and gaffes through social media, severely damaging the honor of doctors and the KMA."
