View original imageLaw Firm YK (Managing Partners Kyunghoon Kang and Beomhan Kim) has officially launched the "Intellectual Property Group," dedicated to handling intellectual property (IP) disputes and trade secret infringement cases.
On the 23rd, YK announced that it held the launch ceremony for the Intellectual Property Group (hereinafter referred to as the Group) at its main office in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the previous day.
Having handled numerous lawsuits and consultations related to intellectual property, including IT patent infringement and invalidation lawsuits, trademark infringement lawsuits, design infringement lawsuits, and trade secret dispute lawsuits, YK recently established the Group by reinforcing specialized personnel and expanding the organization to respond more effectively to the increasing number of intellectual property and trade secret-related disputes. Through this, it plans to provide more sophisticated and specialized legal services.
The Group Leader was appointed as Managing Partner Chungjin Oh (Judicial Research and Training Institute Class 23). Managing Partner Oh served as a judge at the Seoul District Court, Daejeon District Court, and Cheongju District Court, and as a high court judge at the Seoul High Court and the Patent Court. Notably, he worked at the Patent Court for three years, handling numerous patent, trademark, and design cases. After retiring from the court in 2010, he joined Law Firm Kwangjang, successfully leading patent infringement lawsuits and copyright and trade secret infringement cases for multinational pharmaceutical companies, IT, and chemical firms.
The Deputy Group Leader is Attorney Dongseop Kim (Bar Exam 6th), a former patent attorney. Attorney Kim has experience advising large corporate partners and handling domestic and international patent filings for Samsung Electronics Mobile.
Other key YK attorneys supporting the Group's expertise include Managing Partner Hosan Yang (Prosecutor Class 25), corporate law expert Managing Partner Wonsik Chu (Class 26), fair trade expert Managing Partner Inseok Lee (Class 27), and Managing Partner Dohyung Kim (Prosecutor Class 30). Additionally, a total of 20 members, including Attorneys Jihoon Kim (Bar Exam 7th), Hyunjun Jang (Bar Exam 8th), Hyerin Lee (Bar Exam 10th), Harin Park (Bar Exam 10th), Sangwoo Lee (Bar Exam 11th), Yoonjoo Jung (Bar Exam 12th), and various field specialists, provide solutions.
The Group plans to offer comprehensive legal services across a wide range of areas, including civil and criminal lawsuits related to intellectual property, trade secret infringement cases, and responses to unfair competition acts. It will operate a specialized organization to handle industrial technology leakage and trade secret infringement cases and strengthen corporate advisory services to promptly address the diverse legal needs faced by clients.
