Police Arrest Hospital Director and Surgeon on Murder Charges Over Alleged 36-Week Abortion
Regarding the '36-week pregnancy abortion YouTube video' incident, the police have applied for arrest warrants on charges of murder against the abortion surgeon and the hospital director.
On the 22nd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Criminal Mobile Unit announced that they have applied for arrest warrants on charges including murder against two individuals: the hospital director of the obstetrics and gynecology hospital where the surgery was performed, and the doctor who conducted the surgery, both related to a 20-year-old A who uploaded the abortion procedure video on YouTube. The pre-arrest interrogation (warrant hearing) for these suspects is scheduled to be held on the 23rd at the Seoul Central District Court.
A uploaded a video on their YouTube channel on June 27th showing themselves undergoing an abortion procedure at 36 weeks of pregnancy. The Ministry of Health and Welfare requested a police investigation into A and the doctor who performed the surgery.
The police are investigating a total of nine people, including six medical staff, one YouTuber, and two patient referral brokers. Murder charges have been applied to A, the hospital director, and the surgeon, while four medical staff members have been charged with aiding and abetting murder. The hospital director has also been charged with violating the Medical Service Act for not installing CCTV inside the hospital.
