Dongmyeong University Future Automotive Department Rise Again Team Wins Encouragement Award at Halla University Autonomous Driving Competition

The Department of Future Automotive Engineering at Dongmyung University announced that its major club team, ‘Rise Again’ (Park Hyun-ho, Park Ji-hyun, Han Jae-won, Kim Seong-mun, Park Hyo-seong), recently won the Comprehensive Encouragement Award at the ‘2024 Halla University Autonomous Driving Competition.’

The Rise Again team from the Department of Future Automotive Engineering at Dongmyung University, awarded the Encouragement Prize at the Halla University Autonomous Driving Competition.

The team achieved balanced results in missions such as lane and signal recognition and emergency situation response, and is expected to grow into talents who will lead the advancement of autonomous driving technology in the future.

Team leader Park Hyun-ho (4th year, Department of Future Automotive Engineering) said, “I believe the excellent results are the outcome of our consistent interest and efforts in autonomous driving technology. I am grateful to my teammates who worked together with one heart.”

The team has been systematically preparing since the winter break of 2023 with support from on-campus government-funded projects including Dongmyung University’s University Innovation Support Group, LINC3.0 Project Group, and Engineering Education Innovation Center.

The students applied programming and sensor theory learned in classes to the design and driving of autonomous vehicles, participating in this competition for the first time this year and achieving such results.

This competition, started in 2021 to cultivate core talents in the autonomous driving field, held its 4th event this year with 60 teams participating. It was divided into two categories: a one-fifth scale model car driving section and a virtual environment simulation section.
