Apple CEO Tim Cook: "Apple Intelligence Changed My Life"
Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed confidence in the artificial intelligence (AI) tool 'Apple Intelligence,' which is scheduled to be installed on Apple devices such as the iPhone. Apple Intelligence, set to launch on the 28th, is Apple's ambitious product after being regarded as an 'AI latecomer.'
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) published on the 20th, Cook said, "Apple Intelligence is as innovative as the iPod's 'click wheel' or the iPhone's 'touchscreen,'" adding, "This AI tool has already changed my life." He continued, "Apple Intelligence will completely change the way people use iPhones, iPads, and Macs," and "While this technology may initially seem relatively small and insignificant, in hindsight, it will be recognized as a pivotal moment that moved us onto a new technological development curve."
However, Apple Intelligence is expected to have its AI features fully operational on Apple devices only next year. Apple Intelligence will be available on the iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, and Pro Max.
One of Cook's favorite features of Apple Intelligence is the 'email and notification summary' function. This feature automatically summarizes received emails and notifications, condensing long messages or multiple alerts into a concise single summary. Cook explained, "This feature has already changed my life," adding, "It allows me to save a significant amount of time over the course of a day, a week, or a month."
Cook also expressed confidence in the success of the mixed reality (MR) headset 'Vision Pro,' which was released in February. The Vision Pro, which Apple refers to as a 'spatial computer,' has experienced sluggish sales due to its high price of $3,500. He said, "Vision Pro will gradually succeed," adding, "I also use Vision Pro for watching movies, and although only certain users currently use the device, none of Apple's successful products have succeeded overnight." He further stated, "The $3,500 price is not aimed at the mass market," and "For now, it is a product for early adopters who want tomorrow's technology, and fortunately, there are enough such people, which is interesting."
Cook emphasized, "People may be skeptical about Vision Pro, but like those who dismissed the iPod, iPhone, or AirPods in the past, this could be a misjudgment," adding, "I have learned one thing from Apple's successful products: success does not happen overnight."
