The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) high school division (under 18) team won the overall championship at the "105th National Sports Festival."
According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education on the 17th, this victory marked their second consecutive win following the 104th National Sports Festival, once again demonstrating the strength of Gyeonggi student athletics nationwide.
The Gyeonggi high school student athletes participated in 46 events across ▲track and field ▲swimming ▲gymnastics, with 677 competitors from 167 schools, securing ▲61 gold ▲48 silver ▲78 bronze medals to claim the overall championship.
At this National Sports Festival, Park Na-young (Gyeonggi Physical Education High School) in girls' gymnastics won four titles, while Bae Jeong-hoon (Gokjeong High School) in boys' bowling, Kim Bo-min (Gamil High School) in swimming breaststroke, Kim Dong-woo (Gyeonggi Physical Education High School) in 96kg weightlifting, and Kim Hong-yu (Jeongok High School) in boys' track and field each won three titles. Additionally, Jo Ah-yeon (Onam High School) in girls' squash and eight other students won two titles each.
Notably, despite challenging conditions, the kendo team event (Gyeonggi selection) achieved the glory of winning first place for the first time in six years, and the girls' soccer team (Osan Information High School) earned a bronze medal, adding to the joy of the overall championship.
These achievements are the result of active administrative and financial support policies by the Office of Education and related organizations, including support for school sports team training and equipment expenses, and joint intensive training for festival preparation, aimed at revitalizing school sports teams.
Kim Dong-kwon, Director of the Sports and Health Division at the Office of Education, said, "The consecutive championship in the high school division at this National Sports Festival is the result of the united efforts of student athletes, coaches, and school sports officials," adding, "We will continue to do our best to provide close support for school and elite sports to help students grow into future sports talents with character and capability."
