Yeoncheon-gun Strengthens Crackdown on Illegal Farmland Landfilling
Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it will strengthen crackdowns on illegal farmland filling by operating a farmland filling task force (TF) and farmland monitors.
Since 2021, Yeoncheon-gun has been suffering from damage to farm roads and drainage channels due to mud soil from nearby urban construction sites being filled into farmland, mainly in Jangnam-myeon.
Residents are experiencing not only safety threats but also significant inconvenience in traffic as large dump trucks travel back and forth on village roads and farm roads while filling mud soil.
In response, Yeoncheon-gun has launched intensive crackdowns to minimize the damage to residents caused by illegal farmland filling. Previously, Yeoncheon-gun lowered the allowable filling height without permission from 2 meters to 50 cm to prevent indiscriminate filling.
