TikTok and Reels Are the Trend... Seoul City Hall's Exterior LED Screen to Be Changed to 'Vertical' Orientation
First Broadcast Video, Messages of Hope and Support
The electronic display board attached to the exterior wall of Seoul City Hall will be replaced with a 'vertical' type for the first time in nine years. This change reflects the dominance of vertical content formats such as TikTok and Reels.
On the 17th, Seoul City announced that it will operate the latest electronic display board starting from the 16th due to frequent malfunctions caused by the aging of the citizen bulletin board. The new display board measures 9m wide by 12m high and features high brightness (11,000 cd/㎡) and low power consumption (75KW). Notably, it is installed in a location with abundant sunlight and uses LAMP-type FULL LED elements that are resistant to sunlight, enhancing durability.

The city plans to operate the vertical citizen bulletin board by programming various content such as major policy promotions, citizen participation, regional coexistence, and self-produced videos.
The first officially broadcast video will be messages of hope and encouragement sent by citizens to their families and others. Last month, 80 messages sent to family, friends, lovers, and pets were selected through a public contest, and these will be broadcast sequentially until January next year.
Additionally, as part of a regional coexistence promotional project, unique events held by other local governments in October and November will be promoted through the citizen bulletin board upon application. In the future, this will expand to include regional specialties and key policies.
Content planned and produced by Seoul City or for which it holds copyrights, such as "Seoul Where Specialness Becomes Everyday," drone footage, and the 29-second film festival, will also be available on the citizen bulletin board.
